Steel I-beam (I-shaped steel beam) — is a metal profile whose cross-section resembles the letter I, capable of supporting heavy loads with minimal material usage. It is mainly used as a load-bearing element. Structure: Upper and lower flanges (girders) - increase resistance to bending, Web (core) - bears shear forces. Thanks to this structure, the I-beam is lightweight yet highly strong. Types: Normal I-beam (B) - general construction works, Wide-flange (Ş) - heavy loads, long spans, Column type (K) - columns and supports, Light series - structures requiring lower loads.
